Canning Jar Match Holder by AddisonShaw, via Flickr All you need is a Canning Jar, Wooden Matches, Black Sandpaper (I used drywall paper for the fine grit) and Tacky Glue.

Match box: Could use sandpaper as well! Good way to keep the matches dry in your emergency kit.
