~Made by Kelly~ This 'one of a kind' cowl/ shawl is my own personal design. Pictured is the ORIGINAL design and the very one that is AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW FOR SHIPPING!!! This shawl was triple knit using the finest most high quality yarn. One is 100% wool (cream/tan in color), and the other two are an Alpaca and Acrylic blend (grey in color). Very soft and warm! A lot of time and thought went into making this special design just right. It is very comfortable and should fit most sizes. The yarn has a lot of give or stretch to it and there are four buttons on one side that make for some adjustment in size as well. Handmade in a smoke and pet free environment. Ships within 1-2 business days. Thanks for shopping at 'sistersThree' today! :)

Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen in "The Hunger Games" - Catching Fire series Love this knit shall/shrug
Obsessed with the Hunger Games Catching Fire Katniss scarf. Tutorial pictures on the ROLLED TOP PART of the cowl...REST OF PATTERN AVALIABLE
This question came up on our site: Where can you get a pattern for the Katniss cowl as seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? The good news is that there are many talented knitters / crochet work...
the Hunger Games Catching Fire Katniss scarf. Tutorial + pictures on the rolled top part of the cowl. @Kayla Meyer
kinda obsessing over this cowl neck sweater vest #katniss #catchingfire
Hunger Games Katniss sweater/scarf
Grey sweater/scarf from hunger games: catching fire
When I went to see Catching Fire last week, I was struck by how many knits there were in the movie. I had heard and seen the famous Katniss cowl/vest and was even determined to make one... The pictures are still shots from the movie. I found several patterns, and was going to make the Lollyknits one, but then decided I didn't really want the rolled collar, as I felt it might be heavy on the shoulders....plus hers was knit and I knew I could crochet one....so I used the above picture and created my own cowl. I did use her suggestion of yarn though and made it with Lion Brand Thick and Quick. Obviously mine is much bigger than the one in the movie, as I'm quite larger than Jennifer Lawrence, but I think it turned out pretty good....it is very warm! The other knit that I fell in love with during the movie was a cowl/scarf. It looks to be knitted and woven...I think it is beautiful... On the train with Peeta, she is wearing another cowl...it was hard to find a decent screen shot of it.. It reminds me of the Wellscroft cowl from Harrisville. I own the pattern and yarn to make this, so I might be making it soon. Another of Katniss's knits that I loved was this sweater.. I LOVE this!!!! She also wore this.. Finnick wore a gorgeous fisherman sweater And even her mom and sister wore some knits... I know the book mentions yarn and knitting..and in the first movie, she buys yarn at the Hob (possibly in the second one too, but I've only seen it once), So you know that there were crafted items in District 12. It seems lots of these post-apocalyptic books/movies include knitting/crochet. I know it is mentioned in Wool...and also in The City of Ember....it's nice to know that the craft will never truly die...even if it does fade from time to time...
So if you aren't aware, I am a huge fan of The Hunger Games. I have read the series about 5-10 times (no joke) and watched the first movie about 50 times. I have not yet gotten to see Catching Fire... no saddened by this. But I'm sure I will soon. A photo was floating around with Katniss in her cowl. So I decided to do a search to see if I could find a pattern for it. I knew I wanted to use a bulky or super bulky yarn to make it look as close as possible, but I have only crocheted with it a few times. It was not time for me to design with it. I found this pattern: http://cogaroocrafts.wordpress.com/2013/11/20/crochet-katniss-cowl-free-pattern/ And modified it to fit how I wanted it to. I used Hometown USA in Houston Cream as the pattern requested. I will soon be posting this in more colors, such as Heather Gray and Charcoal Gray. ChickenBetty's Random Plaids is a cool & contemporary cowl with a plaid pattern. The pattern illustrates an easy way to knit plaid while not having to worry about intarsia and lots of little bobbins of yarn. By adding the vertical element in the purl ravines of ribbing, your crochet slip stitches lay even with the surface of the knit stitches, keeping the illusion of a single knitted piece. Starshower Shawl [Pattern | Hilary Smith Callis]
Starshower Cowl Knit Pattern // Ravelry
Starshower is another of the shawl-cowl hybrids that I can’t get enough of lately. It is shaped as a shawl, but mostly worked in the round - so it can be worn as a shawl, but without the ends dangling down. The simple Open Star stitch pattern perfectly complements Anzula’s sparkly fingering weight yarn, Nebula, though the pattern would work just as well with a favorite semi-solid or variegated sock yarn. Sparkle is encouraged, but not required.
