Have You a Red Cross Service Flag? 1918. Jesse Wilcox Smith, illustrator. Sentimental image by one of America's greatest women illustrators. This poster, promoting the Red Cross Service Flag, shows a young boy affixing a flag to his window. Only members of the Red Cross could display the flags and additional smaller stars were added for other dues paying household members. Very good condition. 28x21 Paper. Linen backed.
This is an additional interesting image of a woman actively taking part in the war effort rather than acting passively. Women, including Schiap, played a great role in the war even if not on the front lines.
