Ann Hamilton's NYC Park Ave art exhibit / interactive playground / community space / sensory experience. Love that this is a no-tech experiment that uses very basic elements and materials - fabric, wooden swings - that create an interactive, new experience that's being captured and shared online and through tech.

The new multisensory large-scale installation titled the event of a thread is currently on display at Park Avenue Armory. Its inventor Ann Hamilton invites an audience to revisit the playful childhood and ride the 42 swings. Though the installation proves to be not about simple fun, but more about life and human connectivity, and could be interpreted in a variety of ways.
Firm: Ann Hamilton. Site: New York, NY. Idea: As swings dangled from the wrought-iron trusses of the Park Avenue Armory, its drill hall morphed into a playground called The Event of a Thread. Photo by James Ewing.
Photo Gallery : ANN HAMILTON: the event of a thread : Park Avenue Armory. A multisensory affair, the work draws together readings, sound, and live events within a field of swings that together invite visitors to connect to the action of each other and the work itself, illuminating the experience of the singular and collective body, the relationship between the animal and the human
Ann Hamilton, The Event of a Thread Ending this weekend is Ann Hamilton’s interactive large scale installation at the Park Avenue Armory, combining music, sounds, and swings for a one-of-a-kind experience. -Joyce Shen, Marketing Coordinator
Ann Hamilton @ Park Avenue Armory The Armory’s Consulting Artistic Director Kristy Edmunds responded to the event of a thread with a question: “How to be within a poem and the recipient of its gift in one swing?” Do you have an answer? Or is the beauty in the asking? Photo: James Ewing.

Jessica Harrison. Hole in the Head, 2011. This wows me because it takes a new view of the bust of someone. Rather than recreating someone's appearance, this bust seems to say that these are not important.
Jessica Harrison - Hole in the Head, 2011“The things I make are about the body: the body in space, the space within the body and the space in-between the two. The body is something we all share in one shape or form, the filter through which we all experience the world around us and the objects in front of us.”
in some Russian forests. People are finding strange, deep holes. They appear in the dense forest, in the places you can’t reach in a car or truck to bring any equipment to drill the ground. There is no soil nearby that could have been taken from such deep hole. When people are brave enough to venture into the holes, they find that they end abruptly in the darkness. There are no reasonable ideas on how these holes appear and what they are being used for.

Tokujin Yoshioka creates interiors, installations and architecture where people can feel the light with all their senses. He explores beauty born out of coincidence and beyond human imagination; his work echoes the beauty of nature with its ever-changing expression, giving the idea “that the design doesn’t even exist”.
I am in complete awe of Tokujin Yoshioka’s mind and the way he talks about his pieces. He creates interiors, installations and architecture where people can feel the light with all their senses. He explores beauty born out of coincidence and beyond human imagination; his work echoes the beauty of nature with its ever-changing expression, giving the idea “that the design doesn’t even exist”.
