Soest, Germany-The churches in Soest were lovely and enriched by the city's participation in the Hanseatic League. Several of the church windows celebrated their products they traded. My host told us that on Christmas Eve the citizens carol with candles through the streets before attending midnight services at the Catholic or Lutheran Cathedrals.
ROSTOCK (GERMANY): Most of the time the houses in Rostock are built in the style of the so called "Backsteingotik" (Brick Gothic) with the typical red bricks - a style of architecture that is characteristic for the whole region because as stones used to be a rare resource in the North, people started to build with bricks.
The beautiful town of Lunenburg is lit up at dusk in this picture that shows all the twinkling lights of the historical site. Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage site that was established in 1753 and still retains that charm to this day.
