I have always loved butterflies behind glass but hated that they had to die for art.... Use craft punch to repeat shape on various papers and glue in a grid
This is a super easy and cheap way to get a pop of color in any room! The whole project cost under twenty dollars! I started out by going to Lowe's and buy a 1 ft x 10 ft shelving board. Next I had them cut it down for me ( yeah I am lazy like that ;) into 12 inch by 12 inch squares.
I bought two $22 primed canvases from Blick, a spool of textured charcoal thread, and a foot of charcoal starched linen-like fabric. I cut the gray fabric into 14-18 leaves for each canvas and cut a small slit in the center of each leaf to make room for the thread.
let students paint paper with watercolors, wet on wet, similar colors. Let dry and cut into triangles. Students pick triangles and glue down randomly, leaving white around each one. Maybe try with black or other color background? Maybe an end of year project.
