Platinum is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Pt and an atomic number of 78.  Its name is derived from the Spanish term platina, which is literally translated into "little silver". Scorodite is a common hydrated iron arsenate mineral.  It is found in hydrothermal deposits and as a secondary mineral in gossans (intensely oxidized, weathered or decomposed rock) worldwide.  Scorodite weathers to limonite.  Named from the Greek Scorodion, "garlicky";  when heated it smells of garlic.
