Ch 9: "I ran to Atticus for comfort, but he said I had it Coming and it was high time we went home. I climbed into the backseat of the car without saying goodbye to anyone, and at home I ran to my room and slammed the door. Jem tried to say something nice but I wouldn't let him" (Lee 112). After uncle jack whipped scout. Loss of innocence.

“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy . . . but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird.”

While it's not the best thing ever written, I did enjoy it. I saw a lady reading it on the subway today, so odd cause most people read it in high school.

To Kill A Mockingbird - the first book I read that gave me an exuberant appreciation for stories that do not end happily ever after

I wanted you to see what real courage is, instead of getting the idea that courage is a man with a gun in his hand. It's when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway and you see it through no matter what. You rarely win, but sometimes you do.

Neighbors bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between. Boo was our neighbor. He gave us two soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives. But neighbors give in return. We never put back into the tree what we took out of it: we had given him nothing, and it made me sad. (harper lee, to kill a mockingbird)

To Kill a Mockingbird, my favorite book ever.

Told through the voice of Harper Lee's heroine, the young and impressionable Scout Finch, this tale of growing up in the racially-charged deep southern United States offers many lessons on friendship, community, justice and acceptance.

I should read this. I don't think I actually did in high school when we had to.

I love the book, and I love the movie. This is a perfect film. I don't think there's anyway it could have been made better.

A great book. I read it when I was still in school & reread it years later as an adult. Movie was good too.

Great way to decorate an English classroom. Have caricatures saying memorable lines from various books.
