I need to remember this. Easy gathering stitch: set machine to the longest stitch and highest tension. Instant gather!

  • Debra J

Use the longest stitch and turn the tension all the way up and the fabric comes out perfectly gathered, no pulling threads! (I've tried this, and it works really well if you don't need to make the gathered fabric "fit" a certain area.)

Brilliant idea! Make Crisp Even Hems... When you're hemming fabric accuracy is important. Save time with this technique: For a 1-inch hem, for example, draw a line on card stock, 1 inch in from an edge. Place on fabric and fold fabric edge up, aligning it with the line you drew; press with an iron. Repeat, folding and pressing again to encase the raw edge. Stitch hem to secure.
