Eszterháza Royal Palace, Fertod, Hungary. This baroque-rococo "Hungarian Versailles" was built between 1720 and 1766 for Miklos Esterhazy Fenyes, head of one of Hungary's wealthiest, aristocratic families. The Austrian composer Joseph Hayden lived here as a guest for nearly half of his active period, 1766 to 1790.
The assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria was the final link in a chain of events that brought World War I to Europe.
