Meet Picasso of the Sand Wash Basin ustangs. He’s probably about as iconic for the SWB mustangs as Cloud is for the Pryor herds. The BLM is doing a damn good job of eradicating these horses. From what I can gather, they might just be worse off than the Pryors. Picasso is estimated to have been born in '89.

Blackjack Mountains, Oklahoma (It's been said that Hidalgo's descendants still roam these mountains today, as part of the Gilbert Jones herd. I'm gonna have to see these beautiful mustangs run wild and free one day.)

Hidalgo. One of the best movies ever.

The Spirit of Blackjack Mountain is dedicated to those who have dedicated their lives to saving these spirited creatures. To know a Spanish Mustang is to LOVE a Spanish Mustang. Words are not enough in thanking Mr. Bryant Rickman and his wife Darlene and their family, along with the late Gilbert Jones for all they have done for the Spanish Mustangs of Blackjack Mountain, Oklahoma.

The wild stallion Bugs walks slowly out of the dust stirred up by the other stallions in at the waterhole in the Sand Wash Basin Herd Area in Colorado.

favorite quote from Hidalgo: "Mister... you can say anything you want about me. I'm gonna have to ask you not to talk about my horse that way." favorite movie always

RJ Tecontender, one of the horses who played Hidalgo in the film of the same name. TJ was the close-up/"beauty shot" horse.
