Momotombito in Lake Managua, Nicaragua. A pre-Columbian religious sanctuary originally known as Cocobolo. The slopes of this volcanic peak were used for the training of Castillo-Armas' insurgent forces. WIth about four hundred men, well-armed with Bren guns, mortars, and even flamethrowers, Castillo Armas's soldiers did not have rockets or artillery, nor did they outfight the Guatemalan army. The war was largely won by psy-ops which demoralized the armed forces under Arbenz.
