Sit up straight. Now suck in your gut. Now pull your obliques in from the sides. Now tense your abdominal muscles enough that that they pull upwards. If you can do all of these things, you can relieve a lot of strain on your lower back.  If your lower back pain is caused by overuse, like mine, not structural (that's a completely different issue!) then you need to give your lower back muscles a break.
