George Gershwin (1898-1937) was an American composer and pianist. His compositions spanned both popular and classical genres, and his most popular melodies are widely known. He began his career as a song plugger, but soon after, he began to compose Broadway theatre works with his brother Ira Gershwin and Buddy DeSylva.

Rhapsody in Blue. This is by far my all-time #1 favorite song, though I do prefer the recording of it being performed in London in the 1970's with Leonard Bernstein as director and pianomaster.
