Great idea from Miss Mustard Seed for making a template when hanging curtain rods. I would mark both sides and check to be sure they're level before drilling though. Not all windows are perfectly level - especially in older homes.
SMART - make a template for hanging curtain rods the same height/distance every time...no more measuring and leveling over and over
Hang curtains wider than the window and close to the ceiling to create the optical illusion of bigger windows. Save money by using store-bought panels or making your own. One panel on either side of the window creates a frame. For privacy/light control you can add a shade, blinds, or sheers in the middle.
Curtain rod to hang decorative items; could use this and switch out decorations for the different holidays/seasons.
Yep. This is what the professional installers do using a screw not an eye hook. The drapery hook is there to hang the "return" of the drapery on each side of the window so light doesn't escape out the sides. Gotta do it. It's not considered optional if you want a beautiful window. Nice that they photographed a close up.
