Les-Baux-de-Provence, France - High on a rocky plateau Les Baux offers a glimpse of medieval life. Walk along the pedestrian village's narrow cobblestone streets to the ruins of the Chateau des Baux, carved directly out of a rocky ledge. Shops and cafes are tucked into little hideaways throughout the village, and 16th- and 17th-century mansions are now galleries and museums.
