Maria Theresa of Austria 1717 - 1780; Maria Theresa succeeded her father, H. R. Emperor Charles VI, as empress of the Hapsburg controlled lands of Central Europe in 1740. She made her son, Joseph II, coregent in 1765 after the death of her husband. Fredrick II of Brandenburg-Prussia initiated the War of Austrian Succession by invading, she was able to repel the invasion and preserve the Hapsburg state. Her reforms and political decisions were successful in strengthening the economy & state.
Caroline Augusta of Bavaria (1792) A daughter of Maximilian I Joseph, King of Bavaria and his wife, Augusta Wilhelmine of Hesse-Darmstadt, and a member of the House of Wittelsbach. She was married to Crown Prince William of Württemberg and to Francis II, Holy Roman Emperor. From 1816-1835 she was Empress of Austria in her second marriage.
