Seeing a preview of the movie "The Rite" I decided to read the book it was based on, which is about a real Catholic priest that get's made an exorcist and his training in Italy. Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000 - L. Ron Hubbard is off his rocker when it comes to his made-up religion (Scientology), but in Battlefield Earth, the man wrote a science fiction novel of epic proportions. The dialogue is a bit weird at first, but I really LOVED this book (and no, it is not a vehicle for desensitization to Scientology. It really is just a novel).

Battlefield Earth - L. Ron Hubbard, don't let the movie based on this book influence you. This is one of my favorite books, so it is unfortunate the movie was a complete let down.
