Randall Flagg takes center stage. I've always loved how he pops up in King's stories. Eyes of the Dragon, The Dark Tower, and Hearts in Atlantis.

The Call of the Wild is a book that will really capture the imagination. It's fairly brutal, but I read it when I was young and I recommend it to any other youngling or person seeking a mental adventure. Survivalist literature is always thrilling, but Jack London's history with the Alaskan gold rush makes this one particularly fascinating, especially as told from the perspective of man's best friend.
