Helen Levitt (1913-2009) "One of the most important figures in contemporary photography is the New Yorker Helen Levitt. For over 60 years her quiet, poetic photographs made on the streets of the city she has inhabited for most of her life have inspired and amazed generations of photographers, students, collectors, curators, and lovers of art in general." via Laurence Miller gallery
Today, the #ICPalumni spotlight shines on Stacy Mehrfar. She graduated from the General Studies in Photography program in 2002. "My time at ICP was transformative—to say the least. In one year I gained a deep understanding of the medium of photography, from its rich history to its contemporary application. I learned technical skills, but perhaps the most influential aspect for me, and the most exciting was the opportunity to learn from working artists whose work I admired."
