Rashomon (Criterion Collection). A riveting psychological thriller that investigates the nature of truth and the meaning of justice, widely considered one of the greatest films ever made. Four people recount different versions of the story of a man's murder and the rape of his wife. This eloquent masterwork and international sensation revolutionized film language and introduced Japanese cinema, and a commanding new star.

This movie floored me. Takes place in post-war Japan and besides being visually stunning, the story is powerful, so full of insight and life lessons.

Seven Samurai, one of the best foreign films of all time. Reports are its is being remade for 2014. Fail.

Don't complain if you don't get it; complain if you go to the bathroom even once while watching.

An elderly lord abdicates to his three sons, and the two corrupt ones turn against him.

A collection of tales based upon the actual dreams of director Akira Kurosawa.

Seven Samurai - a Japanese film (1954). It is SO amazing! If you like foreign dramatic films and don't mind black and white, subtitles or sitting 3 hours and 45 minutes, then you will LOVE this movie! The Magnificent Seven was based on this film.

♥♥♥ Slumdog Millionaire by Danny Boyle, 2008 (Dev Patel, Freida Pinto)

Seven Samurai, what can I say. I believe this is one of the best movies ever made. I am a big fan of foreign films and Kurosawa is at the top of my list of best directors, along with Fellini, Truffaut, Ang Lee and few others. From this list, I think Kurosawa has made more impact on me and Seven Samurai is his most well known movie. His strength is telling the story and this movie does that at the highest level. This movie spun The Magnificent Seven, a western. A must see classic.
