MANCALA: a family of board games played worldwide thousands of years. A player starts by placing a certain number of seeds (beans, stones, cowry shells, etc.) in each pit on the game board. In subsequent turns, all seeds are removed from a pit, then "sown" successively, 1 per pit, & seeds captured based on the state of the board. The English phrase "count & capture" describes the gameplay. Whoever captures most seeds wins. Details differ, but this general sequence applies to all Mancala games.
