This reminds me of my favourite Aunt, Emily (Aunty Em). She was a seamstress/dressmaker/needle-woman and used her spare bedroom as her sewing room. As a little girl I would stay with her sometimes in the school holidays, I would sneak into the room - even though I knew it was not allowed when she wasn't present - and just drink in all the beautiful colours of fabrics and cottons and wools and embroidery silks. It had a totally unique smell I have never come across since ... beautiful ♥
