New species of tapir discovered in south-west Amazon

New species of tapir discovered in south-west Amazon, in Brazil and Colombia, Tapirus kabomani. It is the fifth tapir found in the world and first to be discovered since 1865.

Golden-headed Manikin is a small passerine bird which breeds in tropical South America. It is found from Panama, Colombia and Trinidad south and east to the Guianas and Brazil and northern Peru. It is not found south of the Amazon or the Ucayali Rivers.

The Burnished-buff Tanager (Tangara cayana), also known as the Rufous-crowned Tanager, is a common South American species of bird in the Thraupidae family. It is found in the northern Guianas, most of Venezuela and east-central Colombia; also near the Amazon River outlet in Brazil, as well as most of the east of that country, Paraguay and northeast Argentina.

The Purple Honeycreeper is distributed throughout most of the Amazon and Orinoco Basins as well as the Guianas, Trinidad and the Pacific coast of Colombia and Ecuador.
