Sugar Bear - Sugar Smacks Cereal. (Ever notice how many of the old cereals had Sugar or Honey in the name?!)
Can you imagine cereal companies getting away with selling something called Super Sugar Crisp these days? Introduced in 1964, Sugar Bear was forever fighting off enemies who wanted to steal his bowl of cereal. His worst nemesis, Granny Goodwitch, deceived him with magic tricks and high-tech diversions to get him away from his daily sugar fix. Sugar Bear and Granny Goodwitch always made up in the end, though.
Sugar Bear! Long before the product name was changed to the "politically correct" Golden Crisps!
Sugar Bear can't get enough of those sugar crisp, oh hello there sugar bear here..
Sugar Bear - Sugar Smacks with is now called Super Golden Crisp

Rocky & Bullwinkle Show: my absolute favor cartoon series, especially the "Fractured Fairy Tales" segment. I learnt only later in life that these cartoons were meant to be appreciated by both kids and adults. Rocky wasn't the kind of squirrel who would steal bird food, but if you need some ideas for squirrel-proof bird feeders (and other wild bird supplies), check out this resource: http://landscaping.about.com/od/helpforconsumers1/tp/bird_supplies.htm

Polio sugar cube vaccine---I took the sugar cube first. I came down with polio, then I took the shot .It was the polio vaccine on sugar cubes that was contaminated.
Polio sugar cube vaccine. I can go one better, I remember being in a test group for the polio vaccine. If I remember correctly it was shots and not the sugar cube. Long, long time ago.
Sugar Cube Polio Vaccines - is this why so many people of this age are suffering from illnesses never seen before?
Sugar Cube Polio Vaccines. I remember lining up in the gym at Cascade Elementary to get a sugar cube, or other shots.
Sugar Cube Polio Vaccines I remember this. The cubes were lined up on a white enamel hospital tray. Each white cube of sugar had a pink drop soaked into the top. You walked by in line, took a cube, put it in our mouth and walked to the door. At the door out you had to show your empty mouth to the School Nurse or one of the Teachers.

At the door out you had to show your empty mouth to the school nurse or one of the teachers. Now that I think about it as an adult, it almost reminds of the Jonestown, Guyana tragedy. smokey bear ...only YOU can prevent forest fires - 60's. I don't know why Smokey the Bear isn't around anymore.
smokey bear ...only YOU can prevent forest fires - 60's - and what's sad about this campaign is that it set the stage for the wildfire disasters of the last 20 years, such as Yellowstone, by letting all the brush build up, that would have naturally been cleared out by smaller, natural wildfires or controlled burns.
Smokey the Bear ...only YOU can prevent forest fires - 60's Have you noticed that now he is called just Smokey Bear insted of Smokey THE Bear as he was called in my childhood.

Smokey the Bear ... "Only YOU can prevent forest fires" - 60's My Hero! I got my Smokey Bear when I was @4, have him, still. Have his books, posters, everything Smokey. His birthday is Aug 10, 1944.
Smokey Bear is an advertising mascot created to educate the public about the dangers of forest fires. In 1944, Smokey was featured in an ad with the slogan, "Smokey Says – Care Will Prevent 9 out of 10 Forest Fires". Smokey Bear's later slogan, "Remember...Only YOU Can Prevent Forest Fires", was created in 1947. In April 2001, the message was updated to "Only You Can Prevent Wildfires". Smokey Bear turned 70 on 8/9/14.
Smokey the Bear Only You Can Prevent Forest Fires Retro Vintage Tin Sign - 11.5" x 16" - $9.80
Smokey the Bear ...only YOU can prevent forest fires! A 1950s wildfire burned thru the Captain Mtns. NM, rangers spotted a bear cub shadowing them as they fought the flames. Approx. 30 men were & the cub survived being caught in the fire for over an hour. The cub had burns on his paws and was treated & later sent to Wash.D.C. zoo. Public went nuts for the Smokey Bear story. In 1952 S.Nelson & J.Rollins wrote an anthem, but to help maintain the rhythm, added 'the' between 'Smokey' & 'Bear'!
