If you're interested in teaching the Gold Rush time period in America, here's a fun activity to end the unit with: Gold Rush Gallery Walk. PERFECT for building background and making connections in Social Studies -- ANY topic! Idea: use sticky notes for the activity pre-lesson. Then, remove them and use as a post-activity evaluation as well.

Place historical pictures around the classroom, and have a gallery walk where students write down comments and/or questions about what they see.
