The social structures of 1960's Jackson Mississippi may be difficult for modern audiences to swallow, but this pie isn't. It's a dessert that also plays an important role in the film.

I have watched this movie 4 times (so far) and cried just as much each time as the first time I watched it. GREAT movie!!!

Great addition to our site from @yesnofilms - "The Help is one of my all-time favorite movies, which shouldn't be a surprise because the book was also fantastic. I reviewed it on my film blog back in August 2011, and since then, I bought the Blu-ray combo pack and have watched it multiple's not a 'feel good' movie, but it's one that is definitely worth watching."

One of my favorite movies: The Help* (2011) An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.

Ranting About 'The Help' • A review worth reading for Southerners of a certain age. I will cop to reading the book, watching the movie, and mostly enjoying it, save a few squirmy moments that hit a little close to home. Still, it's always valuable thing to consider another viewpoint.

"The Help" (2011) An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960s decides to write a book detailing the African-American maids' point of view on the white families for which they work for. Honestly I almost didn't watch this film because I thought it was gonna be another typical racist movie where all white people are evil etc etc. (Let it Go already !) Honestly I was pleasantly surprised with this film and I absolutely LOVED it ! Great movie !!

THE HELP (2011) - A sassy young writer in the Civil-Rights era American South takes on the privileged white establishment by asking "the help," their impoverished African-American maids, cooks, and nannies, to tell her their stories. What can I say? I finally watched it on DVD and enjoyed it. Yes, the film is absolutely Hollywood product - overproduced, simplistic, and loaded with easily identifiable villains and hero(ine)s, but I loved the performances and characters.

Tissues Required. Amazing film with an amazing actor. Will Smith always gives it his all in his rolls and this movie was no exception. You just keep asking 'when will he get a break?' a must watch, based on a true story.
