The Beverly Hillbillies was a show about a backwoods family that suddenly moves to Beverly Hills, California, after their patriarch strikes oil. The show was the pioneer of the "fish out of water" genre.

The Beverly Hillbillies. Arkansas family strikes it rich and moves to Beverly Hill. Where else? I loved this show for years. It is funny that Granny and Jed were smarter when the show started and got dumber by the episode. Ellie May and her critters, Jethro and his humongous brain power, Jed the millionaire with the heart of gold and Granny and her shotgun and her possum stew. Mr Drysdale and Miss Jane kept them on the right track as well as the millions in his bank.
The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-71) CBS ~ The series is about a poor backwoods family transplanted to Beverly Hills, California, after striking oil on their land. Many of the stories centered around the "fish-out-of-water" element; a running gag was about the "cement pond." The Beverly Hillbillies ranked among the top twenty for eight of its nine seasons. It accumulated seven Emmy nominations. The episode "Hedda Hopper's Hollywood" was ranked #62 on TV Guide's 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time.

Laverne & Shirley. Spinoff of Happy Days. Lovable characters. The girls worked in a brewery and lived together and were best friends. The laughs were too contrived but it was endearing. It stayed on too long. Moving them to California seemed to loose its heart.
