The effects of these conditions on children are wide-ranging and can include complex heart defects, seizures, a poor immune system, and speech, language and learning difficulties. Neurofibromatosis (NF) is the term for a group of conditions that mainly affect the nerve tissue endings and the skin, causing multiple tumours to grow.   Our grant funded a telephone helpline, managed by a specialist adviser, that provided advice and support for this complex condition to families across the UK.  www.nfauk.org
