Rosegate, 1239 First Street, Garden District....in the Garden District of New Orleans - It was built in 1857 for wealthy merchant Albert Brevard who lived there only two years before shooting himself over the house's tax assessment. The house was purchased in 1989 by Anne Rice. She set her Mayfair Witches books in the house, describing the halls, gardens and pool in great detail.
