Tortilla Recipe, one for white, one for whole wheat. I used the whole wheat recipe (substituted butter for the shortening once and substituted coconut oil another time) and it turned out perfectly. Yum!

these bars are excellent for parties as they are very sweet and only small piece needed to satisfy sweet tooth. they are easy and quick to make. I made my own caramel for the recipe rather than using store bought caramels. I used aluminum 8x8 pan so i could just cut and remove the bars. very sticky and hard to remove otherwise. once removed, cut into 1x1 pieces.

tortilla soup. When autumn follows the long hot Texas summer and the first cool front blows in, I celebrate by making tortilla soup.

This is a very healthy take on Tortilla soup and most likely closer to authentic TexMex vs. typical American, over-loaded with cheese soup. Light, broth-y and I can't wait to try it with a salad made with fresh salad greens, jicama, red onion and currants.

never, ever, ever buy tortillias again. they are wayy easy, and cheap to make at home!

Wonder if these are as easy as they look??

I use the book Artisan Bread in 15 minutes a day - it's fantastic. Haven't bought bread in over 2 years.

Yes, they are. The hardest part is getting into the rhythm of it, and judging the right time to turn the tortilla, but once you figure that out, you'll be turning out tortillas like there's no tomorrow!
