Fun attention getters (My favorite that I might use for my class is either Peanut Butter Jellytime or Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, haha!

All about me bag:  beginning of the year  I did this last year and the students loved it!

All about me bag: beginning of the year. I have been using this all about me bag for a homework assignment for the first week of school.

This would make a great procedure (Harry Wong). Count to five or hold up one finger at a time when the class needs to refocus. Discuss what occurs for each number at the beginning of the school year and eventually the reaction will be automatic.
