Louis Zamperini - Olympic athlete, WWII  Prisoner of War (Japan) - subject of the book UNBROKEN

Louis Silvie Zamperini is a World War II prisoner of war survivor, inspirational speaker, and former American Olympic distance runner. He was the subject of Laura Hildebrandt's book, "Unbroken," and the movie based on the book.

Audie Murphy - Real American hero, movie star and most decorated veteran of World War II, has a VA Medical Center named after him in San Antonio, Texas. He died in a plane crash, 47 years old.
