I remember having rest period at school.  Everyone had to put their heads on their desks for 30 minutes.

Remember pretending to smoke with candy cigarettes ? Yes they actually sold candy cigarettes once upon a time. They had red tips to look like the lit end of a cigarette , and you could blow out a few puffs of "smoke" ( confectioners sugar).

Yarn Ponytail Ties I wore these in my pigtails all the time until I got the brilliant idea to get my hair cut into a shag. My hair wasn't long again for yrs!

This old school desk is what I use to sit in all day because in grammar school you didn't change classes all day! I thought I was in jail, ha ha!

School Desk (always liked the built in book storage) Boy I remember these. The best desk for school. I remember pulling out one text book and all of them falling out along with all of the paper you had crammed in there too. Oh the memories!

Libraries had fewer books and it took longer -despite Mr. Dewey's Decimal System- to find and check-out books.

The "old days" library cards When I visited the old Burns School when it was still around.I looked at some of the books I had frequently checked out and lo and behold! My name from the was still on the library card!
