    Evening dress by R H White & Co, 1885 US, the Met Museum I always thought the trim on this dress was fur, but it’s actually down feathers. That makes me feel a little less guilty about liking it. (Down is usually gathered after birds shed it naturally, but there are more cruel ways of getting it.)
