"Night Swimming" is an original mixed media painting on canvas, created with acrylic paint, old letters and found paper. Inspired by the song "Night Swimming" by REM (the 1st verse is written around the edge) and the awesomeness of dark water and the endless stars of an expansive night sky.
love this used this last year as a spring board for a 2nd grade lesson. Looked at what regions of Africa giraffes live, looked at patterns found in those regions and used those in our spots using pen. Then used crayon and watercolor and learned about Fauvism; the wild beasts Matisse. Love how they came out and the kids made so many connections.
