Ishi (Native American,) last of the Yahi Tribe, of the Yana people, barely walking, stumbled out of the forest in 1911, half starved. A California Museum Language professor took him in to be "studied." Ishi died of Tuberculosis in 1916..the last of his people and tribe, of the Yana people. Most of his tribe, were killed in the California Gold Rush, by greedy miners.:
