      November 25: Today in 1973, President Nixon proposed lowering the speed limit from 70 to 55 mph on federal highways in response to the energy crisis. What do you remember about the gas shortages and the energy crisis of 1973-1974 and in the late 1970s?

      1974 - speed limit lowered to 55 mph- I remember this. And now, in Illinois, as of 1/1/14, we reverse this!

      "1974 - speed limit lowered to 55 mph" ~~Oh yes! I remember it well. I was traveling 160+ miles on the weekend to see my future husband & my little Porsche got much better milage at 70 than 55 'cause I could go into 5th gear. Try telling THAT to a cop!! lol

    Barney Miller (1974-1982) -- I used to love this show when it was first on TV, and my husband and I watched it in re-runs in the late 80s, early 90s -- we tried watching a few episodes a couple of years ago online, but they seemed really dated -- some shows age well and seem timeless -- this one didn't.....
