In the rural western part of the state, grave sheds, or grave houses, often complete with windows and rain gutters, were sometimes erected over the burial site.

This is the hidden grave of Robert, Agnes & Jeanne Balds. Three children who lived in Culross and died of the plague on 14th September 1645. Their grave was put out on Culross moor, now a forestry plantation.

This one kind of shocked me a bit. Is it a memorial or a mass grave? I would guess that it is a "pauper's" gravesite for orphaned/abandoned children...
