CHOICE BOARD: Assignments for early finishers. This is great especially for 5th grade with the 1:1 iPads
Do you have early finishers, and they always want to know what to do next? The choice board can help, and it allows your students to make their own decisions on what to do next.
Do you have early finishers, and they always want to know what to do next? The choice board can help, and it allows your students to make their own decisions on what to do next. Could do this with QR codes and print on sticky notes.
Choice board for early finishers with things that they can do while other students are finishing their work. Also great way for students to make own decisions and not bother others or the teacher.
This Choice board is for students who are fast learners. Teacher can use Choice board for fast finishers to have some other assignments to do while others still working on their current assignments. Teacher can assign students to pick 2 activities to complete on the Choice board. Also, teacher usually won't grade students after they complete the assignments, It encourages them to have learning experience instead of thinking that they must finish these assignments. <- Page130>

Homework - Real Classroom Ideas
Students have to write in a log every time they do not turn in their homework on time and explain themselves. This helps teachers keep track of how many times the same student does not do his/her homework, makes students think about why they did not do their homework, and establishes accountability.

"I Didn't Do My Homework" folder - kiddos write in the day/assignment/reason they didn't do their work - has everything in the kiddos own handwriting for guardians/administration and for me to see how many assignments have been late.
Love this! I wonder how this would do in my high school classes. It's always the same kids...this makes them more accountable and they can SEE how often they don't do it. More often than not over half the class does not do their homework. Unfortunately my theory that they will change their ways when they see their grade is wrong! They must have consequences ...same for middle school...
No Homework Binder, great idea for accountability. The teacher can keep track of how many times that student isn't completing or turning in an assignment.
No Homework Binder with a sheet for each student. Keeps record of each student's undone homework in their own handwriting. Someone in the comments suggests a "What Will I Do About It?" column. I like that. Excellent documentation idea for parent-teacher conferences.

No Homework Binder...the student needs to write why and when they didn't do their homework...this is a great way for teachers to keep track of who is not completing assignments

Taking a Zero: Reinforcing student responsibility and giving them ownership in the process of improving their work habits.
High School, Middle School Classroom Rules, Middle School Math Classroom, Teacher, Classroom Ideas Middle, Teaching Classroom, Cool Classroom
Except that in our district we pretty much are NOT allowed to give a zero. Add to this that kids who fail tests can just take them again -- with no penalty and automatically receiving the higher of the two grades. There's no such thing as students taking responsibility anymore! And just FYI... i teach HIGH SCHOOL!
Each time students don't turn in homework. Great evidence for parents at parent/teacher conferences.
Taking a Zero: Reinforcing student responsibility and giving them ownership in the process of improving their work habits. While I love this, in reality, this would be so much work for the teacher b/c if the kid in't do the work to begin with, he certainly won't do this. :-(
Since teachers are required to document everything now, this would make a great way to record when a student takes a zero. The only thing I would hate about this is that it may accumulate a lot of paper work.
Taking a Zero: Reinforcing student responsibility and giving them ownership in the process of improving their work habits. Is it awful that I want to do this in my high school classes? sam
