Prypiat: Once home to over 50,000 people this Ukrainian city housed the the workers of the Chernobyl nuclear plant until its 1986 meltdown. Given that the city is in what has come to be known as the Zone of Alienation, or the 30 km radius surrounding Chernobyl, it is quite literally dead. These days, however, the government has started allowing tourists due to decreased radiation levels.
"Pirate Tower" of Victoria Beach in Laguna Beach, CA. How I lived in Corona del Mar and never saw this is beyond me. The tower is actually a staircase leading from house above down to beach. Bette Midler lived in the home during the '90s.
Nature: Radioactive Wolves - Chernobyl's Nuclear Wilderness (DVD)--It has been 25 years since disaster struck the Chernobyl nuclear power plant deep in the former Soviet Union. Radioactive fallout from the accident created a "dead zone" around the reactor, too contaminated to be safely inhabited by humans. If the wolves are doing well, the populations of their prey must also be doing well.
