great idea This is one of my FAVORITE classroom management tools!! It can be soooo time consuming to answer the questions...Can we use markers?, Do we turn this in?, Is this a talking activity? I love using these assignment choice signs to answer those questions without me doing the work. Once I give directions for an activity, I quickly place checks and X's by the cards and my students know exactly where to look for the answer.

Make and put on the door - Teach-A-Roo: Ticket Out the Door! This can be used as an exit ticket. You could put critical thinking or math on the door. This gives the students something to do when waiting at the door.

When students ask a question no one in the class knows (including myself), they can put it up on the Google Board. Students can bring back a written answer to one of the questions of their choice each week for extra credit, or whatever incentive you choose. They get really excited when a question comes up that they can put on the board and find out the answer to later...

This is an example of what you can do to make your room a more creativity friendly classroom. Bulletin boards and other posters around the room help aid in creativity.

Teaching for Fame and Money: Anchor Charts & Classroom Management

This is a great way to greet the students on the first day. The teacher gives each student a Meet the Teacher page and a goodie bag. There is also a student info sheet on each desk. This could be a great first assignment for students to begin working on as soon as they enter the room.

Student desk setup for Meet the Teacher: Student info sheet, meet the Teacher page, and a goody bag. Inside the bag is a pencil, a star eraser, and bubbles with a note that says "Third Grade is bubbling with excitement!" (I'd use my bubbles instead.
