Whether we like it or not, standardized testing is a reality that our students are faced with every year. These tests can especially be stressful for struggling readers. But this test taking strategy has proven to be highly effective for elementary students, specifically struggling readers. The Stop and Jot strategy helps students retell what they read. It can also be used to find text evidence quickly when answering questions. How else can we build their confidence as readers?
