Bulletproof glass, demonstration by the best rifle man of the New York police, 1931.  Bulletproof glass was actually started on during WW1 with the invention of glass tempering or dropping hot glass into water which strengthened it considerably.  However, this bulletproof glass was created by gluing plates of glass together with a rubber compound in between the layers.  Not shown: the proceeding five test subjects for whom things did not go so well.
