    A soiled dove, indeed.

    I think this photo was post-mortem. Her hand at the neckline of her dress doesn't seem to be in a natural position, and her eyes seem distant. The hand on the stool could well have been used to help prop her up. Her hair gives an appearance of having been neglected, perhaps due to illness.

    Four Sisters. The eldest girl seems to be deceased. The sister on the left end has one foot braced on the floor and a firm grip on her older sister's right arm, as if she is supporting her. The next girl is holding the older girl's hand, but close inspection seems to indicate no response to the younger girl's touch. This was still very good photography.
