Auschwitz/Birkenau - Shoes... What happened to the socks?
Auschwitz was the most well-known of all the concentration camps because of the extermination. 1.1 million people were murdered at Auschwitz using a poison gas called Zyklon B. The less healthy and weaker were killed first, then eventually the strong after they became weak. This picture was taken at the Auschwitz museum of all the shoes collected after Auschwitz was liberated. http://hmd.org.uk/page/auschwitz-birkenau

Yellow star~ says 'Jew' in Dutch. It is like the star Anne would have had to wear during her time in the Netherlands. "Jews are evil and a threat to us, the superior race. Their lives are worthless and they should be destroyed." Adolf Hitler's words of hatred rang through Germany. From Anne's Diary, October 1942~ Fine specimens of humanity, those Germans, and to think I'm actually one of them! No, that's not true, Hitler took away our nationality long ago.
