This interactive lab with full teacher key teaches students the concept of cellular respiration, photosynthesis, the law of conservation of matter, reactants, and products. Approximately two class periods in length, includes teaching lab and class starter (I teach a 50 minute class). My students love this lab; the fact they get to make chemical equations using Skittles makes it even better!
Biology Lab: Diversity of Cell Structure. This is a short, one hour lab that I wrote for my Biology I students. This lab would be excellent for an average Biology class or middle school science class. I use this at the first of the school year after teaching about the microscope and the cell organelles. $
Graphing, Scientific Method and Scientific Writing
Science Skills: Applying the Scientific Method and Scientific Writing. Teaching the science skills is of the utmost importance. If the skills are taught properly at the beginning of the school year, your students will be equipped with the tools they need to be successful for the rest of the year.
Students classify 27 of these stylized aliens in this fun, easy, classroom tested activity. It's never the same twice, because the kids make different decisions about which characteristics are the most important. One of the best activities in my decades of teaching middle school science! $
In this lab, students will observe prepared slides of whitefish and onion mitosis. After becoming familiar with the cells on the slide, students will conduct a random sample of cells to determine how much time, in minutes, is spent in each stage of mitosis. Students are required to chart and graph their data, and answer thought provoking questions.
