Cathedrale de Strasbourg, France. Begun in 1015 & completed by 1439. It is a mix of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. It was the tallest building in the world for over 200 years (1647-1874). Sandstone from the Vosges used in construction gives the cathedral its characteristic pink hue.

(Chapter 1) "He wanted to get out of town and get in a good walk. I suggested we fly to Strasbourg and walk up to Saint Odile" (14). Cohn didn't want to displease Frances, so we never went. But I still think that a walk along that scenic river would have been nice.
