Following the declaration of war on August 22, 1942, it took Brazil over a year to raise, equip, and train their contribution to the fight in Europe. The BEF parades here in May, 1944, almost ready to sail for Europe that July. Although they are armed here with the Brazilian Mauser, they would be rearmed by the Americans upon their arrival in Italy, soldiering on with the M1903 and M1 Garand.

Today, makes 70 years that soldiers of the Expeditionary Force of the Brazil (FEB) came into the fight against the Germans and conquered the place named Monte Castelo, here I honor these people with this photo of three Brazilian soldiers in their jeep called "Sonia", and so I would like to thank all who have sacrificed for our freedom
