Hi Myquillyn, I know it doesn't have to be perfect, but ... I've had this sink for 7 years now. I love the look and price of it but will probably swap for a stainless apron front at some point when I can afford to take the plunge. I cracked mine (the first time) during the first month I had it, and fight with those grooves several times a week to keep the gunk out. You should ask Edie what she thought of hers -- I think she put one in when she first bought the lake house and remodelled the kitchen. I only remember because I cautioned her too. ;)
so are you telling me I should remove it, throw it away and go buy a new one? :) I'll just keep it until I need to buy a new one! if it cracks, I guess then I'll need to, thanks! xo
Ha! I didn't realize you already had it! IKEA doesn't make the stainless grates to fit the bottom, but you can find some small generic ones to help. Also, I wouldn't recommend a bowl-over-pot double boiler with a slippery silicone over mitt (the reason for my biggest crack). :)
Oh yes, that's a photo of my sink in my kitchen!! thanks for the warning!!! xoxo
Funny. My mortar and pestle sit on my sink ledge too! And clearly I have some catching up to do on my blog reading!
I have had mine for 5 years and it is heavily used and never cracked once. I could buy 5 more over the next 25 years and still be under the price of one from a big box store. Highly recommend this beautiful sink!
